How’s the hand Ma’am?

With the latest ‘staggering’ figures on life expectancy recently released by the Department of Work and Pensions the Queen is probably regretting the fact she sends a card to each Centurian!  The latest forecasts are predicting that almost a fifth of the people alive today in the UK will live to be 100!

Definitely this will adversely affect the state pension and the age we will receive it.  Money will also have to last longer with many people having a retirement that could be 35 years long.

Now is the time to plan for your retirement.

The new coalition has certainly come in with a bang. While we realise there will be some pain to us with higher taxes introduced to reduce the deficit, there have been some good measures announced especially around pensions and retirement planning. The link between state pension and earnings/inflation is certainly welcome. More detail on this and the emergency budget planned for 22nd June 2010 will follow.

Success comes to the person who does today what he was thinking about doing tomorrow.
